Birth / First Parent Peer Support Groups
AKA offers the only peer support groups in Central Texas not affiliated with any child placing agency that provides services for birth/first parents and family members. We are here to offer support and understanding to all family members who have lost a child to adoption. Meetings are currently held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7PM Central Time and the fourth Monday of the Month at 11AM Central Time. RSVP to [email protected] for Zoom link and event reminder information. These meetings are free to attend.

AKA Birth/First Families Say:
AKA changed my life. Connecting with other birth/first mothers for the first time made me feel less isolated and catalyzed my reunion journey. Just as important, though, was being in dialogue with and learning from other members of the triad. This community has given me so much insight into all aspects of adoption (and some very dear friends!)"
-- Anne, Birth/First Mother
“When I found out in January 2010 that I have a granddaughter who was adopted at birth, I had no idea how to find her or how to approach her and her family when I did find her. Two months later, I joined AKA. The accepting, experienced AKA community guided and supported me through the process of connecting with my granddaughter and her family. Now, at the monthly meetings, I continue to learn how to strengthen the bond between us.”
– Sharon, birthgrandmother
