About Adoption Knowledge Affiliates
Adoption Knowledge Affiliates (AKA) is a unique non-profit organization, serving Central Texas since 1992. AKA provides support and education to adopted people, birth / first families, prospective and current adoptive and foster parents, and adoption professionals. We offer peer support, search assistance, educational programs, resources, and an annual conference with top-tier adoption professionals. In 2020, we expanded our services to include those with unexpected commercial DNA results. Whether it be due to adoption, donor conception, or other circumstance, we are ready to provide the same level of support as we have for nearly thirty years.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years experience in nonprofit sector, program administration, administrative work, or related industry
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and learn new skills
-Good communication, organization, and planning skills
- Ability to work well with others and build strong professional relationships
- Proficiency in word processing, event registration, email marketing software, scheduling programs such as MS360, Google products, Mailchimp, Zoom, Doodle, Flipcause, or similar applications

Responsibilities:
- Maintain a virtual headquarters office for AKA (PO box, telephone number and email address provided by AKA)
- Administrative support to the board of directors for board and committee meetings including requested reports. Attend all board meetings. Maintain board communications, minutes, and reports in secure digital location
- Assist treasurer in creating budget and reports to present to the board
- Provide administrative support to the conference chair and committee members in planning the AKA annual conference, including managing conference sponsorships
- Responsible for management of membership database and dissemination of all communications to membership and event participants as directed by the board of directors, using Mailchimp or similar client
- Manage and keep current the AKA public calendar and website with the events schedule dictated by the board of directors
- Provide design, produce, and distribute The AKA Connection, AKA’s quarterly digital newsletter with content and assistance from the board
- Provide administrative support to the board for identified fundraising efforts
- Update social media accounts weekly
