






| Presenters CAROL SCHAEFER Ms. Schaefer is the author of an acclaimed memoir about her experiences as a birth mother, entitled The Other Mother: A Woman's Love for the Child She Gave Up for Adoption, which was adapted as a television movie. She also has edited other adoption-related books, appeared on television shows and lectured at adoption conferences worldwide. Ms. Schaefer's most recent book:Ê An Ancient Tear is a compelling story of how a mother's wounds of losing a child through death, marriage, abortion and adoption can be healed through a connection to and with spiritual realms. JANIE CRAVENS LMSW-ACP Janie Cravens, has more than 20 years of experience in adoption, infertility, and birth parent concerns and is a pioneer of open adoption. Ms. Cravens resides in Austin, where she owns a consulting company, Adoption Development Resources. CAROL DEMUTH, LMSW-ACP The author of Courageous Blessing and many other publications, Ms. Demuth has worked extensively in adoption and post-adoption counseling, adoption education and mediation services. Ms Demuth, herself an adopted person, currently works in post-adoption at Buckner Adoption and Maternity Services in Dallas. DEANNA ENGBER, L.P.C., L.O.T., M. DIV. Ms. Engber, an adoptive parent, has over thirty years experience as a pediatric occupational therapist and has provided chaplaincy in a hospital setting. As a professional counselor, she has been in private practice working with individuals and families in Austin, Texas for over ten years. LINDA FLEMING, M.S.W. Ms. Fleming is a program specialist for child care licensing with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. She has extensive work experience in licensing and supervision of foster and adoptive homes and program development. DALE RUDIN, PH.D. Dr. Rudin is a licensed psychologist and an adoptive parent in an open adoption. She has over thirty years experience counseling families, couples, individuals and children. Dr. Rudin is in private practice in Austin, Texas. |
